Hi Everyone!
I feel that this is a good opportunity for me to thank you again for taking part and explain the Symphonic Ecology Project in a bit more detail; what it is all about and why it is happening. Some of you may also be wondering why there is another soundscape day too.
The last soundscape day on the 13th of April went so much better than I ever expected! Whilst this first project was taking place I was also writing a paper on our soundscapes and whether they could be seen as music. Before this project I was researching rhythms in the environment such as moon and sun cycles, and the seasons. By looking at rhythms and cycles of our planet I noticed that the seasons are a very interesting part of time and that all the sounds at midday will sound completely different in each season.
I also noticed that the Symphonic Ecology Project was tapping into something quite unique – a conversation between people, sound and nature, so I have decided to create more soundscape days by making it seasonal.
Final Outcome
Some of you maybe wondering what this is all for and what/when the final outcome will be from the project.
Sound Art
One part of the final outcome will be in the form of a sound installation. All the sounds that are collected will be used to create a 24hr sound installation; because of the length and scale of the project it will not be completed until sometime in 2017 and therefore I cannot say exactly what the final outcome will be until I have collected all the sounds. All I can say is that there will be a final sound installation with potential to make other artworks from it.
PhD Research
The other part of this project is partly research based. My aim is to apply to do a PhD next year where this will form the basis of both my PhD proposal and my research for final my paper.

Just A little Thank You
I am very grateful for everyone who has taken part and any new comers to the project. It is great to see so many people who are getting involved. Thank you for your patience, it will take your help to get to the final stages of this project but I am looking forward to it and I hope you are too!
I hope that you are able to take away something away from this project; listening to the sounds around you and noticing things that you may not have noticed before. I believe that sound is something that we all take for granted and hope this will help change our perceptions of the world we live in by taking time out of our day to listen and record our surroundings.
I hope that makes some sense – I am also very open to talking about the project, so please, if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me or ask any questions on the Facebook and event pages.
